Looking for a training plan or schedule to follow when training for your Iron Phi event?  Well we have a solution for you.  Iron Phi is pleased to announce our Iron Phi Strength & Nutrition Coach, David Blount, and our Iron Phi Running & Triathlon Coach, Gary Bredehoft.  Each are experts in their field and have provided you with resources to help you achieve your athletic goal.

Iron Phi Strength & Nutrition Coach - David Blount (Hanover)

David Blount is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS) with a degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Exercise Science from Hanover College in Indiana. David is a former collegiate football player who earned multiple all-conference recognition and one of 48 NCAA All-American players on the U.S. team.

David is a fitness professional who applies scientific knowledge to strength training programs for the primary goal of improving athletic performance and/or the quality of life. David specializes in the design and implementation of safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs that provide guidance for fitness, nutrition and injury prevention.

David is available to present educational workshops on nutrition and training techniques for businesses and their employees, gym members, athletes and sports teams.

In an effort to maintain the best industry standards, practices and techniques, David earns at least 16 hours of continuing education units every two years. All of his coursework is approved by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and keep his certifications current.

Outside of his professional career, David is committed to personal fitness and community involvement. David participates in athletic events around the country, including The Men's Health Urbanathlon and Festival, The Arnold Classic, local road races, etc. He also coaches football for the Mason (Cincinnati Area) School District. David has trained numerous athletes, including an Olympic-level competitor from the 2008 Summer Games.

Gary BredehoftIron Phi Running & Triathlon Coach - Gary Bredehoft (Nebraska)

Gary Bredehoft, CSCS is owner of Tiger Coaching and Personal Training; fitness based personal training, coaching, and athletic conditioning service business, with offices in Lincoln, Nebraska for ten years. Gary is a Strength & Conditioning Specialist from the NSCA, a USA Triathlon Certified Expect Level Coach, Certified ACE Personal Trainer, RRCA Certified Runners Coach, and ASEP Certified Coach. Along with other certifications Gary presently works with 100+ clients and has a staff of 5 employees. Gary is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, where he was a past volunteer assistant coach for cross country and track. Gary is also the Head Cross Country Coach for Lincoln Lutheran High School.
 
Gary is actively involved in community organizations including Lincoln Marathon race director for 17 years, City of Lincoln Workwell board member, past Leukemia and Lymphoma Team-in-Training Coach, and past board member of the Lincoln YMCA.
He is also involved with Junior Achievement, Team Nebraska Triathlon Club, and a board member of the Lincoln Track Club for 20 years.

Gary is married to Sharon who is executive director of the downtown YMCA; he has two sons, Mike (28), Scott (26), and stepdaughters Sydnie (18) and Tobie (16). I am also an Iron Phi athlete competing to honor my mother who was diagnosed with ALS in 2009. She has always been a strong person, working on their farm, and taking care of my father who has had MS for 25 years, and now she has trouble just walking around the house. I hope my efforts can help inspire others to join in our cause to find a cure for this disease. I have learned my strong work ethic from my parents, and it is hard to see them both losing strength, they have always been an inspiration to me.
