My Iron Phi Story
Welcome to Alana Collins Iron Phi Page
For the past decade, Georgia Alpha has prided itself as being the flagship Iron Phi chapter. Dozens of Phikeia, actives, and alumni have joined the Iron Phi ranks, and Georgia Alpha has consistently been the nation’s top fundraiser.
In 2018, Georgia Alpha became the first chapter of Phi Delta Theta to participate in the “Adopt & Serve an ALS Family” program through the newly formed LiveLikeLou Foundation. Preston, Lara, and Alana Collins of Madison Georgia became essential partners in the Chapter’s philanthropic success both locally and nationally. Though we lost Preston to ALS in October 2019, his legacy has continued through the efforts of Georgia Alpha and his daughter, Alana.
Over the past 7 years, the Chapter has hosted birthday parties, kickball tournaments, driveway basketball games, and (our favorite tradition) Christmas lights on the Collins’ house. In turn, the men of Georgia Alpha have seen first-hand the impact of ALS, and more importantly, the perseverance and courage of, Alana.
This year, Georgia Alpha would like to recognize and celebrate Alana’s graduation from Morgan County High School, where she has thrived as a member of the Band, Art Club, and Interact Club. Despite the challenges ALS unjustly places on families, Alana has carried on Preston’s memory in a manner Georgia Alpha believes truly represents what it means to be an IRON PHI and has decided to have her join as an honorary member of the 2025-26 Iron Phi Team. All donations raised in honor of Alana will be included in the Chapter’s goal to reach $300,000 in all-time donations by the end of this school year.
Georgia Alpha is planning a special event in the Spring to honor Alana's Iron Phi status.
The net proceeds will support ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) research, education, screening, and treatment. It will also help strengthen an organization (Phi Delta Theta) that has had a lasting impact on families battling ALS.

How Does My Donation Make a Difference?
Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.
Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
