Our Iron Phi Story

Iron Phi

New York Kappa - Hofstra University

Welcome to the Iron Phi team page of the New York Kappa Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Hofstra University!

There is a special saying within our organization - "We enjoy life by the help and society of others". This is, in fact, our open motto and helps to explain our Chapter's desire to help others through the Iron Phi initiative as well as our other philanthropic and service endeavors.

The mission of Iron Phi is to strengthen the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity and the impact it has on the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease through the fundraising and athletic efforts of its members.

The New York Kappa Chapter of Phi Delta Theta proudly won the Clark Jackson Award which is gifted to the top fundraising chapter of Phi Delta Theta in the USA & Canada annually for the LiveLikeLou foundation during the 2020-2021 academic year as well as became an Iron Phi Chapter after its members raised $21,345.38 during the 20'-21' academic year; the most money raised out of all Phi Delta Theta Chapters. The New York Kappa Chapter was also the Gamma East Province Lou Olympics Champions for the 2020-2021 year where we took home the Iron Mug!

Those of us listed below have committed to becoming Iron Phis. We have selected an athletic endeavor that we'd like to accomplish and will be fundraising for LiveLikeLou foundation during our fundraising and training time. We look forward to completing the athletic events that we have chosen and more importantly raising as much money as we can for the cause. It won't be easy, but we value and know that the experience will last a lifetime!

WE NEED YOUR HELP! - We encourage you to do one of a few things while on this page:

1) Help members of our team reach the $1,000 fundraising goal by making a donation on their individual page!

2) Support our entire chapter's fundraising efforts by making a donation to the team page!

3) Support us in our journey to becoming Iron Phis by spreading the word or sharing this page and our mission with others!

You can track our progress and chapter total by revisiting this page or frequenting the Iron Phi homepage for an up-to-date look at where we stand in comparison to everyone else. You can also track individual members progress by searching their name in the search bar.

The brothers of the New York Kappa chapter of Phi Delta Theta thank you for your endless support in the fight against ALS and we appreciate your generosity in helping us achieve our goals!

Sincerely,

The Brothers of the New York Kappa Chapter at Hofstra University

How Does My Donation Make a Difference?

Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.

Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
