Our Iron Phi Story

Iron Phi

California Chi - University of San Francisco

Welcome to the California Chi Iron Phi/Lou's Olympics page!

The mission of Iron Phi is to strengthen the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity and the impact it has on the fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease through the fundraising and athletic efforts of its members.

Leading into ALS Awareness Month in May, the brothers of Phi Delta Theta will be raising awareness on ALS disease and raising funds for the ALS Association. During the coming months of February, March, and April we are aiming to raise $10,000 and commit ourselves to bettering our fraternities commitment to supporting ALS Awareness.

Below, there is a list of brothers committed to becoming an Iron Phi. In order to become an Iron Phi, an individual must raise $1,000 and complete an athletic challenge. In order to participate in Lou's Olympics we must all each raise $444 to be an eligible member. In order to become an Iron Phi Chapter, the whole chapter must raise $10,000 and collectively complete an athletic challenge. This year, the brothers from the California Chi chapter have decided to commit to Lou's Olympics which is a competition running from February 4th - April 30th in which brothers will have to raise $444 and then compete in one of the 44 events of the compeition in hopes of earning gold medals for our chapter. Our goal in this olympic competiton is to not only all earn medals but to raise $10,000 in the process so that we can establish ourselves as an Iron Phi Chapter.

We would encourage you all to one of two things on this page:

1) Help members of our team reach the $444 or $1,000 fundraising level by making a donation on their individual page.
2) Join us on our journey to become Iron Phis.

Our chapter will be competing against Phis from more than 225 campuses where Phi Delta Theta Fraternity has had chapters since 1848.  You can track our progress by revisiting this page or frequenting the Iron Phi homepage for an up-to-date look at where we stand in comparison to everyone else while seeing us compete in the following 44 events. How Does My Donation Make a Difference?

Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.

Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
