About Us

We are the Texas Upsilon chapter of Phi Delta Theta at the University of Texas at Dallas. Since our founding in March of 2017, we've managed to condense a rich history in the short time that we've been active in the UT Dallas community. In all of our years here, we've continued to deliver on our promise to be a pillar of the community and to instill out core values of Friendship, Sound Leanring, and Moral Rectitude into every one of our amazing members.

Our Mission

ALS

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neuro-muscular degenerative disease that attacks motor functions. Imagine yourself walking into a doctor's office with some mild symptoms, only to be informed that you have just a few years to live, and that in the time leading up to that, you will slowly lose control of your body until you are wheelchair bound and are unable to communicate. This may sound dramatic, but it's a real story that happens to thousands of people every year who are diagnosed with this condition.

The LiveLikeLou Foundation

Founded by a father, husband, lawyer, and brother of Phi Delta Theta who sadly passed due to the condition, the LiveLikeLou Foundation aims to better the lives of those affected by ALS through a variety of projects. By funding research into the condition and its treatment, LiveLikeLou aims to take this disease from fatal to chronic, and from chronic to treatable. By providing help and support to affected families, LiveLikeLou helps to alleviate the strain and stress that finds its way into happy households because of the condition. In all things, the LiveLikeLou Foundation continues to hit its goal to "Leave ALS better than we found it".

Iron Phi

The Iron Phi program is a program that aims to unite the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and strengthen its impact in combatting Lou Gehrig's disease. Through the fundraising efforts of our participants, we continue to take bigger strides in improving our community of philanthropists, volunteers, and leaders. The most adventurous of our group who raise more than $1000 are named as Iron Phis and are recognized nationally for their contribution to our philanthropy efforts. Support our prospective Iron Phis today!

How Does My Donation Make a Difference?

Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.

Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
