Iron Phi #75 - Ernie Chan
When I made the decision to become a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity in November 2009, I had a vague idea of the opportunities that the organization could provide me. Never in my life would I have thought that in my 4 short years as a brother, I would have already had so many life-changing experiences. Joining Phi Delta Theta gave me an incredible network of people, an avenue through where I can serve my community, and push me towards the greatest version of myself through the attainment of our three cardinal principles: friendship, sound learning, and moral rectitude. I would not be the man I am today without Phi Delta Theta, I am so happy and so proud to be a part of the best fraternity in the world.
I became an Iron Phi in May of 2011, completing my first marathon at the age of 19. The Iron Phi program pushed me towards living a healthier lifestyle, becoming more disciplined with my time, and gave me the confidence to step up and contribute to my chapter and my community.
I currently serve as the athletics chairman of our chapter, where I have built new programming to encourage brothers of our chapter to be more active and live healthier lifestyles. I am pushing hard to have more brothers from Nova Scotia Alpha join the ranks of Iron Phi, and reap the benefits that come along with participating in this great program.
I would like to use this space to thank my many generous donors and supporters, many of which you can find listed on the honour roll to the right. The response that I have recieved through my Iron Phi journey has been nothing short of incredible and together we are making a difference in the lives of people living with ALS.
Although I have already reached Iron Phi status, I am always accepting donations for the ALS Association of Canada/Canadian Phi Delta Theta Scholarship Foundation. I plan to take on more philanthropic athletic endavours in the future and would appreciate your continued support. Race Selection + My Training Schedule
Hey Guys -
A couple quick updates:
I have made my race selection - I have made the decision to run the Scotiabank Bluenose Marathon in Halifax on May 22, 2011.

How Does My Donation Make a Difference?
Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.
Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
