My Iron Phi Story
Welcome to My Personal Iron Phi Page
This past semester I have had the honor of becoming a brother of Phi Delta Theta of the Pennsylvania Mu Chapter here at Widener University. Now serving on the executive board and trying to set an example as a leader to my fellow and future brothers, I will be competing in Lou’s Olympics as well as completing my Iron Phi. An Iron Phi is a distinction given to a small percentage of members within my fraternity. The Iron Phi Challenge is to raise $1,000 and complete an athletic challenge of your choice. All of the net proceeds will support the LiveLikeLou Foundation, which is a non-profit organization in the fight against ALS. The LiveLikeLou Foundation was founded in honor of Lou Gehrig, who was a brother of Phi Delta Theta, and who passed away from ALS.
Additionally, Lou’s Olympics is an event in which each chapter has been challenged to raise $4.444 (in recognition of brother Gehrig’s number 4) towards the Live Like Lou foundation through the Iron Phi Challenge and compete in any of the 40+ categories for a medal and as their athletic event. Donavan and I have both agreed to each raise half of the Lou’s Olympics goal for our chapter ($2,222 each)! For Lou’s Olympics, I will be doing as many pushups as I can over the next few months and he will be doing the same with situps, working together with the intent of bringing home a commemorative Lou’s Olympics gold medal and spreading awareness for ALS.
If the $1,000 goal is reached I will also complete the Murph Challenge. This challenge honors LT. Michael P. Murphy who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions in Afghanistan in 2005. The challenge consists of 1 mile, then 100 pullups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another mile. If $1,500 is reached we will be doing a polar plunge.

How Does My Donation Make a Difference?
Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.
Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
