In 2010, I became IronPhi #23, a proud honor for me as I balanced work, training for my first ever Half Ironman & fund raising and achieved all my goals, which is pretty cool!  -

The mission of Iron Phi is to strengthen the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity and the impact it has on the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease through the fundraising and athletic efforts of its members. Lou Gehrig was a member of Phi Delta Theta, and our organization has taken an active role in finding a cure.

The net proceeds will support ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) research, education, screening and treatment.  It will also help strengthen an organization (Phi Delta Theta) that has had a lasting impact on my life.

In 2011, I will be competing in my 2nd Half Ironman in Augusta, GA in September and my First Full Ironman in Florida in November (140.6 miles!)

I have completed St. Anthony's Triathlon in St. Petersburg on May 1, 2011.  I completed the Olympic Distance triathlon in 2:39:04 which shaved about 30 minutes off last years time!  

I also have scheduled;

Morton Mease Plant Triathlon in Clearwater, FL - Sprint distance - June 26, 2011 -- 1:29 total

Englewood Triathlon - Sprint Distance - July 16, 2011  -   1:24 total

Siesta Key Triathlon - Sprint Distance - July 23, 2011  -   1:10 total (2nd Place in Age Group)

Augusta 70.3 Ironman -- 5:51 total

Ford Ironman Florida - --- - 14:57:15 total  


According to The ALS Association's web site, approximately 5,600 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with ALS each year. It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. That's why I'm becoming an Iron Phi. To do something bold about Lou Gehrig's disease.

I've set my personal goal at $2,500.00, as last year I raised $1,081 so this year I only need to raise $1,419. 2011 Fundraising Efforts Begin!
I am beginning my 2011 fundraising efforts a bit late, but with FULL FORCE!

Our chapter (FL EP) recently experienced another tragic loss.
A Father, son, brother, pledge brother of Phi Delta Theta and genuine good person, Jason Moore, passed away on May 12, 2011.
I am racing my next two races to honor my fallen brother and friend.
He will be missed.

i DID WORK on the Bike
Run was ok. 2/3 of 13 mile run course was rocky dirt path terrain or thick grass on uneven surfaces, which was a little treacherous, but all in all, I had an absolute blast, and you couldn't wipe the smile off my face!

Austin Half Ironman
Almost 30 days out from Race Day and the training continues. In the past month, I have biked about 400 miles, run approx. 120 miles and swam a good deal as well. Hopefully this training comes to fruitiion on race day, but until then... the pain continues! Muah!!!

RACE DAY 5/15
FITriathlon on Siesta Key - Olympic Distance

I was hoping for sub 3:10, but it was a scorcher and the waves were not in our favor, but if I learned anything, it is that while going it alone has been a worthy self-exploration and great confidence builder, it is time to get some legit coaching and so I will be joining an 8-week camp starting in June to help me achieve better results and really focus on results.
1.5K Swim| = 34:16
26 Mile Bike| = 1:27
10K Run = 1:09
T1 = 3:53
T2 = 3:43
I was a little better on the transitions, but I will need to try wearing no socks in the future and practicing these changeovers as 3 less minutes in the Transitions is the equivalent of 20 seconds faster per mile in the run, which is significant.
Anyhow, all in all it was a beautiful day, a fun race with great volunteers and workers.
I also want to give a shout out to my little brother Michael Dreznin who completed his first sprint triathlon ever in a blazing time of 1:59! Way to go Machine!
