My Iron Phi Story
Welcome to My Personal Iron Phi Page
As a brother and an alumni of Phi Delta Theta, I am excited to accept the challenge to become an Iron Phi. It has always been a goal to honor our fraternal commitment to philanthropy and support the fight against ALS. By participating in this challenge, I aim to embody the values of perseverance and dedication that define our fraternity, while making an impact in the battle against this devastating disease.
The rivalry between my chapter of Ohio Epsilon at the University of Akron, and Indiana Gamma at Butler University, adds an exciting and motivational element to my efforts. Seeing how we have been matched up against Butler, I took note of this obvious sign to move up my goal that I had intended for next spring. This friendly competition not only enhances our commitment together, but also rallies our chapters and communities to support ALS research and patient care. By channeling our competitive spirit into fundraising and endurance events, we can amplify our impact and honor our brother, Lou Gehrig, and his legacy in a meaningful way.
Although becoming an Iron Phi represents a personal achievement; it’s also a chance to look within ourselves, and our shared mission of giving back to something bigger than one individual. I am grateful to be able to take this challenge to help make a difference in lives, that often, do not have that choice.
On Sunday, September 15, 2024, I am running the Orca Half Marathon in the West Seattle neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. How Does My Donation Make a Difference?
Your donation towards an Iron Phi athlete equally supports two very important things: Supporting ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) through research and support of ALS families and leadership development for undergraduate members of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
At the end of each year calendar year, the LiveLikeLou Foundation grants dollars raised through Iron Phi to fund its initiatives that support ALS research, scholarships to support the higher education goals of ALS dependents, and summer camp experiences for children who have a parent or grandparent with ALS.
Dollars used for undergraduate leadership development have and continue to help Phi Delta Theta educate more of its undergraduate members as they work to “Become the Greatest Version of Themselves.”
